Body of missing 61-year-old Fort Worth man found in Jack County, officials say

A missing 61-year-old Fort Worth man was found dead Friday afternoon in Jack County, officials said.

Nkosinomusa Emmanuel Gwalla disappeared July 17, according to a missing person alert from the Fort Worth Police Department. Gwalla was seen driving his Dodge Challenger in the 1400 block of Intermodal Parkway around 10 a.m. His family was concerned he was lost and in danger.

On Thursday, someone called the Jack County Sheriff’s Office to report a suspicious vehicle parked near a field. Officials recognized it as Gwalla’s car from the license plates and began a search of the area, the sheriff’s office said on social media.

The search was called off around 10:30 p.m. and resumed Friday morning, officials said. Several search teams, which included the Jack County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksboro police and fire departments and the Fort Worth Police Department Missing Persons Unit, combed the rough terrain around the location where Gwalla’s car had been found.

Around 4:30 p.m., searchers found Gwalla’s body in a nearby creek, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

“We are honored to be able to help return him to his family for closure,” the release said.

Jack County is located in north central Texas around 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
