Broome star swimmer, Jasper Barnett, shatters slew of records at Kimberley Open Short Course

Swimmers from across the North West descended on Broome over the long weekend for the annual Kimberley Open Short Course swimming competition from September 21 to 23, but it was Broome’s own Jasper Barnett who stole the spotlight, shattering an incredible 15 records while winning nine gold medals and one silver.

Barnett, a rising star in the 12-year-old girls’ division, made waves by breaking multiple long-standing records, including the Kimberley Girls’ 12 years 100m breaststroke, which hadn’t been touched since 2000. She bested the previous mark by just under a second.
