Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a modest file size

The next Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, looks to be a huge reduction in game file size. Considering recent entries have ballooned into to taking up 300+ GB, this is a welcome change.

CharlieIntel on Twitter shares the pre-load files, which become available this Sunday. The game’s campaign is bundled into two different “Packs,” with Campaign Pack 1 taking up only 16.443GB while its second pack takes up 20.998GB on PS5. PS4 is a whole different story, with Pack 1 taking up a mysteriously small 1.5GB and Pack 2 taking up 15.9GB. Unlike the PS5 version, though, we know its Multiplayer Pack takes up 12.1GB.

This is a huge departure from previous Call of Duty games, like the Modern Warfare 3 remake, which totaled to around 200GB. Hopefully Black Ops 6 really is a turning point for Activision and its next COD entries will remain decently compact moving forward.

Smash Jump’s Adrian Cozmuta had this to say in his preview of the game’s multiplayer back in September: “The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer may not be the radical change many were hoping, judging by the first round of Beta. Nonetheless, there is promise and potential here especially regarding Omnimovement, although Treyarch has its work cut out in addressing gun balance, server, and other issues.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases on October 24 with pre-loads available on October 20.
