Can You Play Helldivers 2 Without a PSN Account? – Answered
At the beginning of the year, following the intense release of Helldivers 2—launching with a slew of server issues—who would have thought it’d become the most thrilling game of the year? But the gaming industry shifts with lightning speed. It seems corporate interests do not align with the players yet again, and now Sony is forcing new requirements on Helldivers 2 players. So, can you play Helldivers 2 without a PSN account nowadays?
Unfortunately, you cannot play Helldivers 2 without a PSN account following Sony’s recent announcement. Initially, Helldivers 2 did not require account linking between Steam and PlayStation Network, primarily due to server connection woes that prevented most players from entering a match. That’s changing, however. The publisher and tech giant announced recently that they’ll require users to connect to PSN always to play online.
Unfortunately, this has blocked over one hundred countries from playing Helldivers 2. Steam is providing mass refunds for the game, and Sony is quiet. It’s an absolute mess.
Following the announcement of its PSN connection requirements, players began reviewing bombing Helldivers 2 on Steam. If a review-bombing campaign ever felt necessary, it’s here and now. Without the ability to voice their concerns and anger due to these recent PSN changes, how will the Helldivers 2 community get through to the suits at Sony?
It’s important to remember that, more likely than not, this is not the fault of developer Arrowhead. They’re almost in the same boat as the players, with the rug pulled out from under them. They’ve watched their hard work and the community they’ve built disintegrate in a single weekend, and it’s likely soul-shattering.
Please do not attack developers!
While we await Sony’s decision on this whole mess, why not stay a while and enjoy everything new published by Insider Gaming?
