City of Tallahassee adjusting trash pickup schedule because of Hurricane Helene

The city of Tallahassee is temporarily changing its trash pickup schedule to make up for days missed because of Hurricane Helene.

According to a press release from the city, Solid Waste will be adjusting the collection schedule by two days. Here’s what the schedule will look like:

Thursday, Sept. 26, customers will now be picked up on Monday, Sept. 30

Friday, Sept. 27, customers on Tuesday, Oct. 1

Monday, Sept. 30, customers on Wednesday, Oct. 2

Tuesday, Oct. 1, customers on Thursday, Oct. 3

Wednesday, Oct. 2, customers on Friday, Oct. 4

Thursday, Oct. 3, customers on Saturday, Oct. 5

Friday, Oct. 4, customers on Sunday, Oct. 6

As usual, residents should place their garbage and recycling containers on the curb on the evening before pick-up, and containers should be returned home no later than the day after collection.

Debris in the wake of Helene, including tree branches and limbs, should be placed behind the curb.

Leaves should be put into a biodegradable bag or cardboard box for collection and should not be blown in streets or thrown down storm drains.
