Clones of 2024’s 2 Biggest Games are All But Guaranteed, but 1 Palworld Dev is Interested and Excited to See What’s Coming
What goes around comes around. Palworld is believed to be inspired by Pokémon, now others are taking inspiration from it. Helldivers 2 could be sharing the same fate. Both games successfully captured the attention of gamers when the industry appeared to have been down and out of quality games.
The games were released earlier this year and both have lived up to the mark. While the survival game has managed to sell nearly 25 million copies globally in its early access phase, the co-op shooter title has sold around 8 million as per the last report. The clones for the games might be coming and one developer is excited to see how it unfolds.
Helldivers 2 and Palworld Clones Could Do The Trick on Mobiles
Palworld creator Takuro Mizobe recently took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share that Tencent and many other Chinese gaming companies are already developing clones of the game. Not just that, the budget for these games is likely to be ten times bigger than that of what was for Palworld.
It isn’t the only game alone in this scenario, Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 may see its clones at some point too. PocketPair’s community manager Bucky writes in his X post:
2025 will be the year of Palworld and Helldivers clones, and although most of these will be mobile games that many Western gamers won’t play, I still think that it’s pretty amazing.
However, there isn’t any official announcement to that nor was any link to such games provided in the post. But Mizobe did provide what seems to be a screenshot from the game Tencent is reportedly working on which certainly resembles the popular survival game.
To echo what Takuro is saying, it really is incredible how quickly companies like Tencent began making Palworld clones.
The budget on some of these clones is incredible too!

Regarding the clone, one user expressed disappointment by saying “Can China ever invent anything new in the modern world?” Still, users think these clones can never match the level of joy ‘Pokémon with guns’ delivered.
Mobile Gaming Is a Captivating Market for AAA Devs
It shouldn’t come as a surprise as mobile gaming is growing rapidly. Global revenue of the sector is anticipated to see bright days ahead and could increase by 20.2 billion dollars between 2024 and 2027. Several of the popular console and PC games already have a mobile version.
Call of Duty, PUBG, EA Sports FC, and more to name a few are some of the popular titles. The widespread adoption of 5G is among the factors giving a boost to mobile gaming as users now have a seamless experience. As of now, the battle royale genre is rising in popularity.
Recently, Activision released the mobile version of Warzone. Although it didn’t become a success initially, it sure was a huge accomplishment to bring such a complex game to mobile devices.
As the sector grows, it remains to be seen if these clones will be a success or not. If they do, they may pull a lot of users playing on consoles or PCs. Given the cinematic experience, players are likely to be pulled towards a mobile version of Helldivers 2.
