CoD: Warzone And MW3 Patch Notes Include More Buffs For MW2 Weapons

A small update has arrived to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. The patch notes reveal buffs for several Modern Warfare 2 weapons. Other small changes include spawn adjustments for Shipment map variants in multiplayer and improvements for challenges in Warzone.

For Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer, the update adjusts the spawns for Shipment maps to make them more consistent across the different variants. The developer says this change was based on player feedback and analytics, which revealed the spawn quality was better on the Shipmas version of the map, so now all Shipment maps should have spawns more in line with the Christmas variant.

The crossbow from Modern Warfare 2 received a significant buff to make it more viable to use. The changes include an 81% increase to the bolt velocity, a 70% decrease to bolt-gravity influence, and a small increase to the neck-damage multiplier. The update also removes the aim-down-sight spread for the Brightblaze, Blastcap, and Caustic 20″ bolt types.

Several shotguns from Modern Warfare 2 are buffed. This includes damage-range buffs for the KV Broadside, Lockwood 300, Expedite 12, Bryson 800, and the Bryson 890. Buffs are also included for MW2 handguns, which aim to improve the damage and damage range of the pistols. This list includes the P890, .50 GS, X12, and Basilisk handguns.

While last year’s guns are getting improvements, Season 6’s DTIR 30-06 battle rifle is nerfed for multiplayer. The gun received a slight decrease to the lower-torso damage multiplier, with a drop from 1.3x to 1.0x.

The update is much smaller on the Warzone side. The only weapon balancing is the crossbow change. MW2’s crossbow receives a similar buff as mentioned above for multiplayer. The neck-damage multiplier didn’t get adjusted, but it does have the 81% increase to the bolt velocity and a 70% decrease to bolt-gravity influence. It also removes the aim-down-sight spread for the Brightblaze, Blastcap, and Caustic 20″ bolt types.

The patch notes include an adjustment to the Terriball challenge for Warzone’s Purgatory LTM mode. Downing enemies with Terriballs now counts towards progression of kills needed for specific Purgatory Island event challenges.

In other news, Warzone has removed several popular playlists from Resurgence and standard battle royale modes. The change looks to remain until Warzone integrates with Black Ops 6 later in the year.

Based on player feedback supported by our analytics, spawn quality improved by approximately 10% on Shipmas compared to Celship and Ghost Ship. Today’s changes ensure that all variants of Shipment utilize the improved selection of available spawns.
