Crash kills 3 from Central Valley near Paso Robles

SHANDON, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Three Central Valley residents were killed in a deadly crash in Shandon on Sunday night near Paso Robles, the CHP says.

According to California Highway Patrol, at around 10:28 p.m., a driver was traveling the wrong way on Highway 46 when the car collided head-on with another vehicle.

Inside the second vehicle were four people from the Central Valley. The crash killed the driver and two of the passengers. The additional passenger was transported to Sierra Vista Medical Center for major injuries. Officers say the driver was from Cutler, and the passengers were from Reedley and Sanger.

Officers say the driver going the wrong way was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. A third vehicle being driven by a man from Bakersfield was also involved in the crash; that driver received minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol does not believe impairment is a contributing factor to the crash. The identities of those killed were not officially released.
