Cygames Pictures is adapting Kagurabachi into anime
Cygames Pictures has recently been announced to adapt The Summer Hikaru Died anime, but it seems like they have another exciting project in their hands.
According to Anime News Network, shonen manga Kagurabachi, written by Takeru Hokazono, has an anime in the works handled by Cygames Pictures, with CyberAgent and Shochiku also co-producing the adaptation. This information was reported by Toyo Keizai Online. Moreover, the popular Japanese website reached out to the two companies helping Cygames Pictures adapt the anime. CyberAgent stated that they have nothing to say while Shochiku claimed that it will avoid replying to inquiries regarding individual projects.
Kagurabachi debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 just last year. The manga’s fifth compiled book volume will be published by Shueisha on December 4 and the manga has already accumulated over 1.3 million copies in circulation. On November 5, Viz Media released Kagurabachi’s first volume in print and the next one will be released on February 4 next year.
Hokazono’s manga can be read digitally through Viz Media’s Shonen Jump and Shueisha’s Manga Plus. Here’s a description of Kagurabachi by Manga Plus:
Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son–they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. Epic sword battle action!
