Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to Xbox consoles this month too

Darkest Dungeon 2 will be released for Xbox consoles this month, developer and publisher Red Hook Studios has announced.

Following its full PC release last year, the well-received turn-based RPG will now hit Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch on July 15.

Red Hook confirmed PlayStation release plans for the game in April and Switch launch plans in June.

The game is available to pre-order from the Microsoft Store for $39.99 / £33.74 / €38.99 with a launch discount of 15%.

“Darkest Dungeon II is a rogue-lite turn-based road trip of the damned,” according to Red Hook. “Form a party, equip your stagecoach, and set off across the decaying landscape on a last gasp quest to avert an apocalypse caused by your own failures. The greatest dangers you face, however, may come from within the group.

“The sequel to the critically acclaimed Darkest Dungeon features all new 3D visuals in the distinctive style, a new run-based road trip structure, an enhanced version of the innovative turn-based combat system, fourteen playable heroes, five regions, five end bosses, and a metagame hub (“The Altar of Hope”) with extensive persistent upgrades.”

The PC version of the game was released in early access in 2021 before seeing a full release in May 2023.

The game, which has a score of 81 on review aggregation site Metacritic, is currently discounted as part of Steam’s Summer Sale.
