Disheartened and Frustrated Pokemon Go Player Uses Science and Maths to Make the Community Feel Better About Dreadful Rayquaza Luck
Pokemon GO players are always looking forward to raids as it not only provides them a chance to obtain rare Pokemon but also allows them to play with their friends. The return of the Raid Battles on August 3rd is bringing the player’s beloved Mega Rayquaza back.
However, as players are super excited to capture and fight it, they recognize that their Pokemon are not doing enough damage. But one player has done the math, proving that the difference between different moves is very negligible.
One Player Made the Whole Pokemon GO Community Happy
Pokemon GO offers a wide array of gameplay experiences to suit every kind of player. Players who catch their favorite Pokemon and simply train them to fill their dex. There is also another side to the game which requires players to coordinate to defeat powerful Pokemon in the Raids battles or Gym Challenges.
With the recent return of Raid Battles with Mega Rayquaza, players are super excited to try the battle and capture the legendary. This Raid does not use an Elite Gym Raid Boss format so players can even invite higher-level friends for help. However, as players are fighting the Pokemon, they are frustrated that their moves are not doing enough damage.
Players have been blaming their luck on obtaining better Pokemon, especially Rayquaza (it is also one of the best Pokemon to complete the raid with as it is a dragon/flying type). Players will be doing this raid many times as getting the Shiny Legendary takes multiple runs.
However, One Reddit User, Shandriel, has made the whole community better as they did the math for every possible move damage and found that the damage difference between super effective moves is very low (almost negligible).
Turns out, Rayquaza IVs don’t matter too much after all..

This thread highlights that sometimes players need confirmation that their efforts are not wasted. The players need a Pokemon that has super effective moves against the Raid boss coupled with good teammates, it is easier to farm for Shiny.
Players Embracing the Challenge with Newfound Knowledge
After getting the information about the damage difference among moves, players have a renewed sense of hope and understanding of the battle. Now players are taking a new approach to the battle and looking to learn from the battle with good cooperation from friends.
That one user has helped many players transform frustration into a shared learning experience. Many trainers who were not happy about their Rayquaza luck, now are ready to face the challenge multiple times with the extra knowledge.]
This shows that sometimes players need a bit of motivation and encouragement in the face of seemingly impossible odds. In the end, players are happy that one of their favorite legendary Pokemon is back to normal raids in Niantic‘s Pokemon GO. Also, it is a matter of time before they will get their Shiny Rayquaza as well.
