According to the Huntington Fire Department, a dog owner stopped to ask for assistance from Huntington Police because his dog was unresponsive and feared he wasn’t going to make it to the emergency vet in South Deerfield.
CPR was performed by Huntington Police Chief Chief Garriepy and members of the fire department administered oxygen with pet masks. Guru was cooled with water and ice in a makeshift tub made by using a bariatric blanket.
A veterinarian attending a concert on the town green assisted with stabilizing Guru before he was stable enough for the owner to take him to an emergency vet in South Deerfield.
In the post on Facebook, the owner says Guru is in stable condition and is expected to be okay. The owner says, “They believe it was a seizure which then led him to overheat rapidly.”
