Dragon’s Dogma 2 Devs Apologize to Fans, Tease Future Updates

In a new post on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam page, Capcom issued an apology to players and promised a few different updates in the works.

The post says that Capcom is looking into ways to improve performance and add the option to start a new game. There will also be bug fixes in the “near future”.

Capcom stated that “to all those looking forward to this game, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience”. However, the devs then listed items that can still be obtained in-game or as paid DLC.

This seems like more of a defensive position, so Capcom likely won’t change course regarding the controversial in-game monetization.

Fans built an enormous amount of hype around Dragon’s Dogma 2 ahead of launch. About four hours of gameplay leaked last week, which fans praised. So, the surprising in-game monetization divided players at launch.

The game released to “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam. Players also criticized the general performance, citing the visuals and various bugs.

Additionally, fans weren’t happy with anti-tamper software Denuvo, which has always been a point of contention. Capcom did not confirm if it will remove Denuvo later on.

However, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has already risen to “Mixed” reviews on Steam. If Capcom spruces up the performance, Dragon’s Dogma 2 might find its footing despite its divisive features.

Capcom confirmed it is “investigating/fixing critical problems such as crashes and freezing” and “addressing crashes and bug fixes starting from those with the highest priority”.

Earlier this month, Capcom announced plans to increase starting salaries in the Fiscal Year 2025. It’s a positive change during a rough time in the industry. Hopefully, the consumer side will also see friendly improvements.
