E-Day’s Reported PS5 Release Proves Xbox Want an Xboxless Future

Thanks to a spectacular event like the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft revealed all its projects for the near future. One of these was the surprising announcement of a prequel to an iconic saga.

Gears of War: E-Day is the name of the game, set for release next year. However, a recent job posting by The Coalition, the studio developing this game, has surprised fans by hinting at a potential PS5 release. If this speculation turns out to be true, the community will not be happy.

Gears of War: E-Day Might Have Accidentally Confirmed Something Quite Controversial

Despite many fans thinking the studio was heading towards a sixth installment, given that the previous entry in the franchise ended with a significant cliffhanger, The Coalition decided to take the franchise back in time and present Gears of War: E-Day.

This prequel will show for the first time how the battle against the Locust began, thrilling players as the franchise’s main protagonist, Marcus Fenix, returns.

But thanks to a new job posting directly from the studio on its official page, it appears that the developer is looking for someone with extensive experience in online systems like PlayStation Network.

This has led many players to speculate that this title might eventually come to Sony’s console. Obviously, Microsoft has said nothing about a possible PS5 release.

Will They Continue Releasing Exclusives on PS5?

This speculation mostly took place on social media platforms like X, where many users began to say that this is practically a confirmation that Gears of War: E-Day will come to PS5.

The official job posting states that these particular skills are not exclusive, but the studio prefers a profile with knowledge of this online platform in addition to Steam and Xbox Live.

The job posting specifically states that the profile sought will work on this popular franchise, making the speculation more real, especially considering the latest exclusive releases that ended up on other platforms.

Microsoft might be planning for a distant future where, after the game’s success on PC and Xbox Series X/S, it will take advantage and release it on Sony’s platform.

Lately, Microsoft seems intent on pushing the ‘No console? No problem’ strategy, after partnerships with Amazon mostly recently, as well as shipping four previous exclusive titles over onto PS5, with more reportedly on the way. Whether this latest rumor points to what was a flagship Xbox franchise making an appearance is yet to be seen, but watch this space.

This prequel will utilize the full potential of Unreal Engine 5, and the studio has already mentioned that this game will focus much more on horror and how humans will face these gigantic creatures known as the Locust. Following the trailer reveal, this game immediately became one of the most anticipated.
