Elden Ring Boss Hidetaka Miyazaki Confirms a Sequel Isn’t in Development but Suggests Spin-Offs Could Be In the Works at Fromsoft
Elden Ring boss Hidetaka Miyazaki debunks all myths about a potential sequel to the game. It is confirmed that we will not be seeing Elden Ring 2 anytime soon, but that does not mean FromSoftware will leave the Lands Between unexplored.
However, these are just speculations based on the comments by Miyazaki, who did not outright suggest anything. He was rather clever in his words and crafted his words with a lot of precision.
Elden Ring 2 Might Not Be The Way Forward For FromSoft
Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree’s ending indeed leaves immense scope to build future projects on. However, sadly, such is not the case. But there is still some good news: Miyazaki is not going to let go of the Lands Between anytime soon. The universe of Elden Ring has a lot to offer, and there is a high chance that various spin-offs set in the Lands Between might be in the works.
Miyazaki is all up for developing the IP, Elden Ring, which means we might see some more from the world of the game. There might be screen adaptations in the form of anime, live-action series, or even a film series. Elden Ring’s world is rich with lore, which can easily be adapted for screen. However, Elden Ring 2 seems to be out of the picture for now
During an interview with GameWatch, Miyazaki was confronted with a question regarding the future games he is working on and the future of Elden Ring. He said:
At this point, we are not considering developments such as “Elden Ring 2”. However, this does not mean that we are denying the development of the IP “Elden Ring”. As for “what will we do then?”, FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. Among them, there are various variations of projects, so I hope you will look forward to them.
FromSoftware is known for developing multiple projects simultaneously. Similarly, Miyazaki too is working on multiple projects, including expanding Elden Ring’s IP further.
There is A High Chance You Might See Elden Ring’s Screen Adaptation Soon
Elden Ring deserves to be adapted for the screen. The game leaves a lot of questions unanswered, which further lays the building blocks for developing the story further.
However, Miyazaki has not confirmed anything as of now, and these are mere speculations based on his comments on Elden Ring’s IP. Whether you will get to visit the Lands Between anytime soon is still a mystery. It is, however, still possible in the form of various spin-offs, if not a full-fledged game.
Sony’s potential acquisition of Kodawa might also be a strong factor in determining what comes out in a few years. Are you excited to go back to the Lands Between? Let us know in the comments below.
