Elden Ring Datamined and Two Forgotten Bosses Had Dialogue We Needed to Hear
In the world of video games, few titles can provide an immersive experience, such as Elden Ring. The game captivated players with its difficult yet engaging boss fights and deep lore. Recently, the game released its first DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, which expanded on the premise, further enhancing the experience.
However, recently, a few data mines found various unused voice lines for the two bosses that have no dialogue in the DLC. After seeing this information, players are calling out to the studio to be less restrictive about its design choices.
Players Want Elden Ring to Add Back the Forgotten Dialogues
FromSoftware is known for its intricate world-building and challenging content. The studio has delivered titles like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and more, which not only cemented its reputation but also showcased the studio’s mastery over the action RPG genre. Elden Ring has only added to its portfolio and further increased its reputation.
However, data miners recently found that the game had even more to offer to players than what ultimately made it into the final released game. They found that the two new bosses Rellana and Romina, introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree were supposed to have dialogue.
The studio is known for its extreme attention to detail and every dialogue has a real meaning and purpose in the game. After seeing that the only lines for each of the bosses were removed, players are somewhat disappointed and want to know the reason behind this decision.
Rellana and Romina have unused voice lines in the files of Elden Ring DLC.

It’s only one line of dialogue for each, but at least we can now hear what they would have sounded like. pic.twitter.com/zvtSMLpEOu— Ziostorm (@Ziostorm1) July 25, 2024
Players are saying that the studio pays too much attention, resulting in the removal of content.
FromSoftware have a serious cut-content problem. Elden Ring would’ve been even better if they just kept a lot of this stuff in the game. After they’ve been polished, of course.

Some players are hoping this might be added in future patches.
hopefully in a future update this could be patched in?

Players are trying to speculate on the reasons for removal.
I had just assumed they didn’t have the time or money to get VAs or something, therefore no cutscenes or dialogue. Why cut these? Rushed development maybe, no time to make cutscenes to match the audio?

This highlights the player’s hunger for more information about the game’s characters, as these small pieces of information can be connected to much bigger content.
The Impact of Lost Dialogues on Fans
For a game as narrative-driven as Elden Ring, every small dialogue matters for players as it can further enhance their experience. Players were already somewhat disappointed by the 2 bosses, as they didn’t have any voice lines.
However, after discovering that they were supposed to have lines, players feel that both bosses would have a greater impact on players. Players now want the studio to balance its creative ambition with few practical constraints (for future games or DLCs).
This highlights that players care about preserving the narrative elements in the game more than anything else. In the end, players have to wait and see if these dialogues will be added in future patches or other DLCs.
