Elden Ring Patch Update Proves Troublesome to Some as Rellana Lore Will Never Be the Same
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree does many things from intense boss fights to complex quest lines. However, seldom does it do anything to expand on the game’s lore, except, when a patch update drops and fans are left more confused than ever about the game’s narrative.
In the game’s latest update, a small change has been added to Rellana, Twin Moon Knight’s arena. This change isn’t as large or arena-shifting but certainly sparks curiosity among fans regarding the character’s story.
Rellana Can Take a Seat Now
Elden Ring’s latest patch has introduced a number of changes and fixes to the game, ranging from weapon damage impact to how enemies respond to players’ attacks. However, this one little change to a boss arena has players wondering what’s going on with the lore.
User Ziostorm on Twitter recently shared a screenshot of a place in Shadow of the Erdtree where players fight Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. As it happens, the space now has an empty chair that didn’t exist before.
In a swift and secretive twist, Elden Ring added a chair to Rellana’s boss room with today’s update.

As funny and bizarre as this may seem at the moment, players are still curious about how this chair plays a part in Rellana’s story. On the other hand, some are worried that this chair might get in the way of the fight.
I won’t blame them, as defeating Rellana is no easy feat. She’s one of the toughest bosses early in the DLC, and predicting her moveset is difficult by default. Add to that a little chair in the arena, and you’d end up asking FromSoftware if this distraction was worth it.
Rellana’s Significance in Elden Ring
While the DLC doesn’t truly expand on the character’s origins, it gives us some idea of who Rellana is. The younger sister of Rennala belongs to the Carian Royal Family, and practices melee combat along with sorceries.
Due to certain circumstances, she chose a path that followed in the footsteps of Messmer, and eventually gained the title of Sword of Messmer. When the Tarnished encounters her, she’s found at Castle Ensis, and defeating her progresses the narrative forward.

Many players have pointed out how Rellana is indeed the toughest fight in the game, solely because of how fast she moves and how early she appears in the campaign.
Even after multiple attempts, you may find her attacks extremely unpredictable, making the fight almost feel like you’re encountering Malenia from the base game.
