This could include everything from challenging duels with Nazgûl to encounters with a fiery Balrog. The idea has taken off as fans consider the unique visuals that FromSoft might bring to Tolkien’s universe. We could see iconic LOTR locations in the style that players are all too familiar with.

The suggestion of a LOTR game that includes multiple playable races like Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits is also an interesting one. It could be similar to what Bethesda did in Skyrim.

Elden Ring and other Souls games are famous for their cryptic narratives and open-ended stories. But LOTR is full of detailed lore and established characters.

But regardless of this, a LOTR project would be in good hands under Hidetaka Miyazaki. He and FromSoft have already partnered with another established writer, George R. R. Martin, so J. R. R. Tolkien shouldn’t be impossible.

Miyazaki is known for bringing terrifying and hauntingly beautiful creatures to life. So naturally, fans are eager to see how he would interpret Tolkien’s monstrous characters, especially orcs, trolls, and Balrogs.

While such a game is still purely speculative, the discussion does fill fans with excitement. There is no doubt that FromSoft could pull off complex, high-stakes battles against well-known villains like Glaurung, Sauron, and Gothmog.
