Elizabethtown Police issue statement on possibility of “drug cartels” in the borough

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Elizabethtown Borough Police Chief Derek Koch released a statement on Friday afternoon saying there have been inquiries regarding “drug cartels” in the borough.

Koch says releasing any information regarding recent inquiries on criminal organizations could “compromise any current or future investigations.”

Koch said he wanted to reassure residents the borough is safe and that police will swiftly and thoroughly investigate criminal activity.

The full statement can be read below:

“The Elizabethtown Police Department has received several recent inquiries about criminal organizations, specifically drug cartels, operating within Elizabethtown Borough. The release of sensitive, criminal intelligence information such as this could compromise any current or future investigations, so I cannot publicly comment on this topic, however, I want to re-assure everyone that Elizabethtown Borough is a safe community, and residents can depend upon the Elizabethtown Police Department to swiftly and thoroughly investigate all claims of criminal activity.”
