Epic Mickey director would love to do a third entry

With the reveal of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, bringing the 2010 Wii cult hit to a new generation, it may come as no surprise that the man responsible for the original and its sequel The Power of Two would love to make it a trilogy. Unfortunately, he’s likely not gonna be the one to make it happen.

Warren Spector, the man behind the games, took to LinkedIn to praise not just the original team that returned to work on the game, but also its developer Purple Lamp and publisher THQ Nordic. When asked whether he’d do an Epic Mickey 3, he said that he would love to, but he has a day job that makes the venture impossible. Even so, though, he does have an idea of where he’d go from the end of The Power of Two if he had his way.

Originally developed by Disney’s internal game dev, Junction Point Studios, spearheaded by Spector, Epic Mickey was made to showcase the motion controls of the Wii. It was then followed up by Epic Mickey: The Power of Two, which wasn’t as well received. The developer would end up dissolving.

Part of us hopes this is a means to gauge interest in the IP, casting a wider net with the game heading to all major platforms,  it’s all too possible that it will find a healthy dose of success from fans purchasing the game to relive the Wii classic or those looking to get their next Mickey Mouse fix.
