Erika Ishii Will Have Big Shoes to Fill in Ghost of Yotei After Daisuke Tsuji, The Voice and Face Behind Jin Sakai, Left a Lasting Impression on Fans

Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel has just been announced, titled Ghost of Yotei, featuring Erika Ishii as the game’s protagonist. The game is set in 1603, almost 300 years after Jin Sakai’s chapter. The game is being developed by Sucker Punch from the ground up.

However, it will not be an easy task for Ishii to fill Daisuke Tsuji’s shoes since he has set a bar quite high for him to achieve. Jin Sakai left a lasting impression on fans, and it will be tough for Ishii to surpass his legacy.

Ghost of Yotei Is Set To Feature Erika Ishii As The Protagonist

Ghost of Yotei is set against the backdrop of Mount Yotei, which is a significantly different place than the samurai-infested land of Tsushima. This game is set to explore the culture and folklore in a different way than Ghost of Tsushima. The game is set in the fantastical version of Japan inspired by the folklore and landscapes of the region, particularly the Yotei Mountain area.

The game blends the visual elements of the previous game and gives it a fantastical touch since the game differs from its predecessor in theme and narrative design. Ghost of Yotei will focus on the personal journey of the protagonist and explore the themes of self-exploration, spirituality, and conflict with the supernatural.

All in all, it will be a character-heavy game, which puts all the more pressure on Ishii to give a ground-breaking performance. There is no doubt about their acting skills, but following any game’s huge success is never an easy task since you are bound to be compared, even if the comparison seems to be unnecessary.

The game will enhance the world further from what we had seen in Ghost of Tsushima by improving the gameplay mechanics and in-world and animal interactions.

We will certainly be seeing a lot of new things in the upcoming game by Sucker Punch. The announcement trailer, too, looks promising and gives a sneak peek into what’s in store for us in the future.

It will enable you to explore a completely different region of Japan in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, in the heart of Ezo, which is known as Hokkaido in the present day. Back in 1603 this region was considered to be a part of Japan and existed peacefully and independently from the influence of any outside forces.

That is one of the biggest reasons the game features a spiritual narrative with a lot of folklore. Since the region was independent of outside influence, the mythological influence grew.
