Even Elden Ring’s Most Hilarious Attempt at a Transformation Isn’t as Bad as Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Early Works

Hidetaka Miyazaki has made it clear several times how Elden Ring was one of his most extensive projects yet, allowing him to experiment with many mechanics he had in mind for a long.

This also includes allowing the player to transform into a literal dragon, something introduced in the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and an attempt that is definitely an improvement over whatever was going on in Dark Souls 3.

Another Way Elden Ring Gets Something Right Over Dark Souls 3

While the main storyline revolves around the shattering of the Elden Ring and the chaos that followed, the game simultaneously contains a massive chunk of lore revolving around dragons. This theme is surprisingly common among all the games released by FromSoftware.

Through the new Realm of Shadow, you can now also literally transform into a dragon, a mechanic that might sound awesome at first but ends up looking a bit silly at the end, as pointed out by a user on the game’s Reddit forum.

However, what pulls through the 2022 Game of the Year winner is how Dark Souls 3, an earlier game released by Hidetaka Miyazaki contains a similar transformation that ends up looking sillier, as pointed out by users in the comments of the above post.

All the dragon lore given in the Souls game is unasked for but is always welcomed by the fans, which ends up fueling the fire further for the renowned director, and as revealed in the recent DLC, these dragons often hold more than one trick up their sleeves.

As always, Hidetaka Miyazaki has gone above and beyond when it comes to hiding details in his latest release, delivering answers to one of the most unexpected mysteries from the base game.

The Realm of Shadow brings us Bayle the Dread, a boss with a cinematic arena and a nemesis that has taken over everybody’s hearts with his amazing dialogues.

In a surprising discovery, it was Bayle who challenged Lord Placidusax in ancient times, before ultimately ending up injured and fleeing to another realm.

In retaliation, Placidusax and other dragons of the time took human form and went around spreading the word against Bayle and his descendants, also referred to as ‘Drakes’ in the game, ultimately forming the dragon communion.

Did you try taking on a new transformation in the recent DLC as well? Make sure to let us know about it in the comments below!
