Fans Are Praying Palworld Survives the Nintendo and Pokémon Lawsuit That Could Totally Diminish the Profit of Its $6.7 Million Game

Nintendo is not holding back and showed no remorse about filing a lawsuit against fellow Japanese game developers over patent infringement. Pocket Pair released a great game that took inspiration from other popular franchises like Pokémon and then renamed them into Pals and their unique features like being able to carry powerful firearms. The gaming mogul could have pursued legal actions months ago; however, they waited long enough and gave Pocket Pair enough time to earn enough goodwill and sympathy from the gaming community.

Patent infringement is a serious offense once valid proof is presented. The game developers of Pocket Pair started this ambitious project with a modest budget that later spiraled into more than they could have imagined, and this could have given the plaintiff enough reason to go after the defendant now.

Nintendo Doesn’t Want Others to Take Advantage of Their Success

The current lawsuit will likely be a massive blow to the overall sales of Palworld and it might only get worse for Pocket Pair before it gets better. The game established a solid foundation with the gaming community after a few months since launch day and it is a rare sight to see an indie game fare well amidst the fierce competition nowadays. Some fans are scratching their heads about this bold move made by Nintendo since the company committed the same crime decades ago. No one batted an eye when the Japanese gaming company directly took inspiration from Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Quest and how these monsters were used for the Pokémon brand back then. The developers of Pocket Pair did not expect this project to take off immediately; however, the studio checked all the right boxes of what the gaming community wanted from a new Pokémon game.

The studio has generated too much profit over the last few months which is a testament to their skill and talent. The developers knew what the players wanted from a Pokémon game that Nintendo failed to deliver time and time again. Fans believed Nintendo completely abandoned the idea of innovating the franchise and neglected it for far too long giving developers like Pocket Pair the opportunity to step in and fill the void.

Palworld Could Be on the Brink of Disaster if Pocket Pair Loses This Case

Other fans began theorizing that this whole lawsuit could be a massive marketing scheme for the Nintendo Switch successor to generate as much chatter and to stay relevant for the next few months. If this theory were proven true, Pocket Pair and Palworld would be the scapegoats to kick off this nefarious marketing campaign for the company’s upcoming console launch.

Regardless of the outcome, the damage has already been done and the gaming community stands by to support Pocket Pair. Nintendo’s hypocrisy is ever-reaching, and while there are clear pieces of evidence of potential copyright infringement, this is a new level of pettiness that could affect the potential of another game to succeed and grow in the next few years.

Perhaps Nintendo refuses to share its success and does not play nicely with others as the company asserts dominance wherever it can. Pocket Pair is nowhere near the level of the gaming mogul and could be easily stomped and removed from the equation months prior.

The gaming community has spent the last few months playing Palworld and found every reason to support the game and the developers. This aggressive pursuit of Nintendo will likely cause more harm than good to its overall brand and potentially thwart the launch of its next-generation console.
