Fans Have a Better Idea for Warner Bros. To Blow Their $200 Million on After Horrible Reception to the Minecraft Movie

The trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ A Minecraft Movie was dropped recently and it’s safe to say that the community found the entire project embarrassing. The budget for the film is reportedly $200 million, and fans believe that Warner Bros. Pictures should save that money and invest it into smaller studios who are talented enough to create a movie based on the franchise.

One such example is Element Animation, a studio from England, who have created various Minecraft animation videos. There are plenty of creative animated videos out there that show how diehard fans of the franchise would make their own version of the Minecraft movie. Industry giants should definitely acknowledge these small creators instead of chasing another video game movie that feels like cashgrab.

Fans Believe That Warner Bros. Should Use Minecraft Movie’s Budget To Fund Small Studios

After the poor response to Warner Bros. Pictures’ A Minecraft Movie trailer, fans on X suggested that the studio should actually invest money into small creators who are actual fans of the franchise.

A fan joked that Warner Bros. should scrap the entire movie and give its budget to Element Animation to create a 90-minute-long Villager News Movie. Element Animation responded to it claiming that they like the idea and would love to work on something like that, only if they get $200 million.

Element Animation is one of the most popular Minecraft animation studios on YouTube. With over 4.5 million subscribers, they have certainly made a name for themselves in the industry.

Shortly after the trailer of A Minecraft Movie went live, people quickly bashed it on social media, claiming that it has turned out to be a complete disappointment. Directed by Jared Hess, the movie features some heavy hitters like Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, and Danielle Brooks.

The trailer indeed looked cynical but Warner Bros. isn’t exactly targeting people who are criticizing the movie, it’s actually the younger audience. Minecraft is quite popular among children and adolescents, and that’s the audience Warner Bros. is planning to aim for with this movie.

Fans are particularly worried about this adaptation since another popular video game franchise was butchered recently: Borderlands. The movie didn’t exactly turn out the way the audience expected it to be and since Minecraft has a strong and loyal fanbase, they don’t want it to face the same fate.

A Minecraft Movie is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 4, 2025.
