Farmers Inn and Tavern holds grand opening in Shavertown

SHAVERTOWN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Dozens gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the historic Farmers Inn and Tavern in Luzerne County.

The restaurant and inn were closed due to the pandemic and is now under new ownership.

Crews worked to renovate and restore the property, which has been open since the end of June, but due to a shortage of staff, the restaurant’s grand opening was held Monday.

The tavern has been serving food for local families for decades and offers unique food and drinks on its menu.

The tavern not only offers good food but also live entertainment and trivia nights.

“A little nervous, but also extremely excited honestly. This is great. I’m still kind of surprised when people talk to me in the dining room, that I’m the owner,” Farmers Inn and Tavern owner Megan Donaldson said.

The Farmers Inn and Tavern is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. and closed Sunday and Monday.
