Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Unique Feature Should be Standard for all Games, Even if 60fps Isn’t
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was released a few days back on the 29th of Feb and the highly-anticipated title has been delivering as expected. After 128 critic reviews, the game has 92% positive reviews and fans have rated the title 89% on Metacritic.
The 2020 title, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also highly rated as being a splendid RPG in the franchise. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a major overhaul as it brought in changes like swapping turn-based combat to real-time action and a ton of new plot points. Rebirth has a rather unique feature in the game that has caught the attention of fans, a feature that was also present in Remake.
Calculating Actual Gameplay Hours Could be a Breeze This Way
Now that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out and fans have got hands-on with the title for a few days, reviews and opinions are coming out about the title. One of the fans has discovered a feature that lets the game pause the overall gameplay time when a player has paused the game and is away from the controller for a couple of minutes.
Normally with gaming titles, so long as the game is running, even if it’s on pause for a while, the overall playtime will include those minutes leading to an inflated playtime for those titles. To those who are bothered about just how many hours are spent on a game, this feature will highlight the hours nearly accurately as it will mostly only cover the time spent playing the title.
Small but neat Rebirth feature: If you pause the game, and leave the controller inactive for a minute, it’ll actually stop your clock for after minute or two. This means your play time is always accurately represented and won’t be inflated by you grabbing snacks and such lol

The user who posted about the unique feature from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also stated that the feature is present on 2020’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well. Those who replied to the post also noted that it was a known feature with one fan noting the game calculates three idle minutes before pausing gameplay time, but not as well-known as other features of the game.
While several gamers are concerned when a game does not reach 60fps on consoles, this is one feature that not many know about or aren’t as concerned about.
Fans Wish More Titles Would Copy This Feature from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Rebirth is a standalone entry in the franchise, which means players who are new to the franchise can pick it up and start playing without any understanding of the context. The game features new synergy abilities and synergy skills allowing players to combine and deliver team attacks.
Of the many features the PS5 version includes, it can be seen just how badly gamers would love to see this feature about pausing gameplay time implemented across titles, old and new.
More games should do this. I’m always doing a large “give or take” when I try and figure out my correct play time haha

One of the fans noted that a standard feature among most titles where a game is paused when the controller goes dead isn’t present with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which was also rather surprising. Others mentioned just how important this feature was as the total time spent completing a game looked far worse for average gamers than what gets usually advertised by reviewers.
