Fremantle Dockers donate $20,000 to St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in bid to end homelessness
Fremantle players have thrown their support behind ending homelessness in the local community, donating $20,000 to St Patrick’s Community Support Centre.
The Dockers visited the organisation on Wednesday as captain Alex Pearce presented a cheque on behalf of the playing group, who donate their personal funds as part of the not-for-profit Fremantle Players’ Community Charitable Fund.
“It’s always good to have moments like this where we step away from the training track and acknowledge we do have a bigger role in society and within the Freo community,” Pearce said.
The donation hopes to give the centre a head start in raising vital funds for the fit-out of its new Engagement Hub.
St Pat’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Piu said the support of the club would have a significant impact in the appeal for much-needed funds.
“It’s amazing to have the support of great leaders in our Fremantle community and the Dockers are a really important part of the fabric of this community,” he said.

“Our organisation is really determined to end homelessness and sincerely believe that can happen and that’s what we work towards every day.
“Having the support of such a respected group in the community makes all the difference.”
