Fremantle Dockers lock away exciting key forward Josh Treacy until the end of the 2030 AFL season

Fremantle have secured another key piece of their future, with Josh Treacy inking a fresh deal that will keep him at the club until the end of 2030.

The signing is a major coup for the Dockers and the build of their forward line.

Treacy joins Jye Amiss and Luke Jackson — both signed until the end of 2029 — on long-term deals in their emerging forward line.

He already had two years beyond this season remaining on his current deal, but said it was a “no-brainer” to extend.

“The offer was there to hang on for a bit longer, and look, it was clearly a no-brainer with the situation the Club is in and the way that I feel it is going to go,” he said.

The 21-year-old has kicked 42 goals from 19 games for the Dockers this season and is on track to have the best season by a Fremantle key forward since Matthew Pavlich in 2012.

He is also the most accurate of the league’s top 40 forwards this season.

Treacy is looming as one of the club’s greatest draft steals, plucked out of the rookie draft with pick seven in 2020.

“I feel like it’s a little bit of giving back to the club after what they gave me a few years ago in an opportunity (to play AFL football),” he said.

“I feel like I can do my best to help repay — not only the club — but the fans and everyone involved.”
