Gainesville man charged in Christmas Eve shooting at encampment

A 37-year-old Gainesville man, Demetrius Few, has been charged with malice murder and aggravated assault following a deadly shooting on Christmas Eve at an encampment near Dorsey Street.

Police responded to gunfire reports shortly before 4 a.m. on December 24, discovering two victims: Ashley Marie Hill, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Marcus Robinson, who was hospitalized.

Witnesses and other camp occupants helped identify Few as the suspect, leading to his arrest by Gainesville Police and Hall County Sheriff’s deputies.

Few is currently held at the Hall County Jail, with additional charges anticipated as the investigation progresses.

GAINESVILLE, Ga – A 37-year-old Gainesville man, has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting early Christmas Eve at an encampment near Dorsey Street, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at the encampment shortly before 4 a.m. on Dec. 24. They discovered two victims: Ashley Marie Hill, of Gainesville, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 36-year-old Marcus Robinson, also of Gainesville, who was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses, along with other occupants of the camp, helped police identify the suspect as Demetrius Few. Authorities, including Gainesville Police officers and Hall County Sheriff’s deputies, located and arrested Few a short time later.

Few has been charged with malice murder and aggravated assault. He is being held at the Hall County Jail, with further charges expected as the investigation continues.
