Assassin’s Creed Hexe to be “more linear”

Some new details have come out about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, one of the many AC games coming out in the coming years that’s currently sitting in early development at Ubisoft Montreal. The game will supposedly release sometime in 2026.

According to Insider Gaming, the game is in early development, but right now, it’s believed to be “more linear” than modern Assassin’s Creed games, with only some open world elements, sounding akin to the early AC games. It will touch on witchcraft — hence “Hexe” — and will focus on a female protagonist currently under the name Elsa.

Other details spurred on by other sources claim the game will take place in the 16th century. Footage shared with the publication backs this up, but the footage is understandably not public. From the description, though, it sounds like you will be able to posses creatures to aid in your travels of — at least one — “dark and gloomy city.”

An IGN interview backed up the idea of just how different Assassin’s Creed Hexe sounds, with Infinity project lead Marc-Alexis Côté discussing how the project, which Hexe falls under, isn’t going to always be the same type of game, stating: “Not everything has to be a 150 hour RPG, right?”

Whatever the game turns out to be, it sounds like Assassin’s Creed Hexe is gonna be one heck of a ride. Considering it’s still Ubisoft, we assume it’ll still have the same stigma behind it, especially if it’s trying something new and — seemingly — exciting.
