Gluckstadt Board of Aldermen holds public hearing, considers rezoning for Megadome. See when
The Gluckstadt Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday evening as the department considers a petition to rezone land from residential to commercial for the use of the Gluckstadt Megadome.
The Gluckstadt Megadome, a travel sports facility, has been in the works for several months. The project is spearheaded by 828 Sports Ventures. Plans include several indoor and outdoor courts as well as a hotel and restaurant.
In January, Larry Fortune, chief investment officer for 828 Sports Ventures addressed the Gluckstadt Board of Aldermen with details on the $100 million project. Fortune said his team had entered into a land agreement with local real estate company Turn Key properties.

Rendering of one of the three domes planned for the 828 sports megadome in Gluckstadt, which is in the planning and zoning stages.
The land in question sits at the corner of U.S. 51 and Weisenberger Road.
During the January meeting, Fortune said the 43-acre complex would yield an estimated $50 million annual economic impact for Gluckstadt, according to third party data analysis.
In late May, Fortune said the project had been delayed due to construction red tape issues, including the need to widen Weisenberger Road. Fortune said plans are still in place, but several steps including rezoning need to be taken before shovels hit the ground.
