GTA 6 Parody Game Removed From Playstation Store Finds New Home on Valve’s Storefront

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has been far too long and the community has just gotten tired. Not in a bad way though. A couple of developers at a studio called Violarte have developed a new game titled Grand Taking Ages, a satirical parody of GTA 6.

We first saw the game last month in December as a listing on the PlayStation Store, but it has since been removed from there and has come to Steam. The game will let players manage a fictional game studio and go through challenges like angry fans, corporate deadlines, and creative bottlenecks.

We actually got Grand Taking Ages before GTA 6

The game was originally don’t the PlayStation with a revised title Grand Taking Ages VI, and a heavily parody-themed logo and design that was similar to GTA 6. But the blatant similarities to Rockstar’s upcoming title were a bit tricky to manage with Sony’s curation standards. So ultimately, the game came off from the PlayStation store and reached Steam. You can check it out here.

The studio faced a different challenge with Steam. You might not know but with recent tech developments, Steam now requires clarity in how AI-generated content is used, even though it’s been known to be lenient. So to gain approval, the developers made several changes. They dropped the VI from the title, revamped the logo, and updated the game’s descriptions. Let’s just hope it doesn’t emulate the supposed price tag of GTA 6.

We approached Steam differently by engaging with their team about the concept of our game before officially submitting it. This allowed us to get their perspective early on, ensuring alignment with their guidelines.

Its main principle is still the same though. The game still pokes fun at industry giants, particularly Rockstar, for their prolonged silence on GTA 6. Steam’s decision to approve the game came after a collaborative effort between Violarte and Valve. A Violarte representative explained to IGN exactly the kind of mindset that the studio approached Steam with.

The game’s Steam page now features an updated trailer and a self-aware description. “Coming Soon Since Forever! Start your game dev journey in mom’s garage! Battle angry fans, dodge ruthless journalists, and perfect the art of “creative” deadlines. Survive on pizza and energy drinks while building your dream studio into… a slightly better garage!“

In the perpetual wait for GTA 6, maybe this is what we will get as of now. However, the execution actually doesn’t look half bad!

Let’s hope it makes it back to the PlayStation Store so the console fans don’t get left out

As for what the community thinks of this, well fans think it’s hilarious. With how long we’ve waited for GTA 6, a lot of fans welcome this sort of thing. But others questioned its authenticity, especially given its AI-generated art and dubious developer credentials. The game’s trailer does show the specific uses of AI, with results that some fans find amusingly fitting for its satirical tone.

The representative also mentioned that the studio hopes that the game will return to the PlayStation Store talking about the revisions made for Steam as proof of its viability. “We strongly believe there will be no issues with Sony this time,” the rep stated, adding that they had formally requested the game’s reinstatement. Whether Sony will reverse its decision remains uncertain, but the devs seem to be optimistic about their chances.

According to the game’s Steam page, it is all set for a July 2025 release. And there’s a big chance that it actually comes out before GTA 6, so we can probably expect a lot of people to play it just for the memes. Will you be one of those players? Let us know in the comments!
