Half of Atlanta TSA agents call out, leading to major delays at Hartsfield-Jackson
The TSA at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport had some of the worst couple of days on Tuesday and Wednesday with weather being the common denominator.
On Wednesday morning, only half of TSA’s staff showed up to work at the world’s busiest airport.
Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes learned it was a combination of icy road conditions and several school districts canceling school.

“Today was a challenge because of TSA staffing concerns. Our staff stepped in as customer service agents to help. In an emergency, in a crisis, in an irregular operation, we will all step up and do what was necessary,” said Airport Spokesperson Andy Gobeil.
Things got back to normal when the Wednesday afternoon shift of TSA workers came in – which brought security lines back to about a 15-minute wait.
Tuesday was a different story, officials said.
“It was the end of a 3-day weekend, we had major events here at the airport including of course the college football playoff, MLK, the threat of weather – so everybody showed up 4-5-6 hours in advance,” said Gobeil.
