Hellblade 2 May Be All Looks and No Function in Latest Daming Performance Report
As many titles have proven, the current generation of consoles has not delivered what users were waiting for; the only real improvement was the loading speed. As for the graphics and performance side, many exclusive games on both platforms cannot even achieve a constant 60 fps.
Hellblade 2 has an even lower fps count; the media outlet Digital Foundry discovered that this title will only run at 30 fps in both Xbox Series S and X. The test has revealed 964p to 1070p at 30 fps at best, considering the famous black bars that studios use.
With a little more than three years since the release of the current console generation, some fans are not very happy about the performance of various games on these platforms. One of the main selling points of these consoles was the ability to run games at 60 fps or higher. Unfortunately, the majority of titles could not achieve this, and many fans are not happy with this because the company technically lies about what this hardware could do.
In the latest episode of this conundrum, Hellblade 2 is the main protagonist of the issue. The popular media outlet, Digital Foundry, has proven that this title will not run at more than 30 fps. But the analysis went beyond this, revealing that the game’s top performance was 964p to 1070p at 30 fps on Series X. This made fans who were very excited about the game feel really disappointed with the result after so many years of development.
This performance includes the black bars that this specific game will have, so the aspect ratio and the whole screen will be even smaller. The upcoming Ninja Theory title is one of the most anticipated exclusive games on Xbox.
The project has been in development for more than six years, so the frustration of the fans makes sense. Another factor contributing to this performance limitation is that the Xbox Series S does not have the same hardware as the X.
In a recent post on X about this, many fans replied, saying that this is a GPU issue, and others talked about how it could be that a six-hour game only runs at 30 fps. Other users, compared to another exclusive title that can’t run at 60 fps even in a performance mode, find the limitations obvious, and players are not happy with how the studies and companies sold false advertising with these features.
The big video game companies will have to see how they can solve this performance issue by making hardware and games that achieve greater fps. Marketing teams will also have to change details and ensure that the hardware is up to the task. There are many rumors about pro versions of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but both Sony and Microsoft have not confirmed any details about this possibility.
