Helldivers 2 CEO Shuts Down Widespread Rumors as Fake News
UPDATE: It turns out this was all once incredible bit of viral marketing, as flying bugs have since made an appearance in-game!
There are few game directors that really know how to interact with the community: Tod Howard, Phil Spencer, and now Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, creators of Helldivers 2.
According to some fake news that is surrounding the game, Pilestedt stopped these rumors with a very funny post on X talking about bug propaganda, saying that some bugs can fly. The CEO was convincing: “bugs can’t fly.” The community quickly replied to his post, agreeing and sharing memes about the game.
One of the surprise games of the year after Palworld is definitely Helldivers 2. The community of this game keeps growing and has a lot of active fans that are always prepared to spread some democracy. But not only is the community of Helldivers 2 warm and welcoming.
But the CEO of the studio that made the game is also very active on X. Johan Pilestedt is very funny and has a very good connection with Helldivers 2 players. Currently, he is not very happy about the latest rumors about the game; according to him, bugs can’t fly.
Pilestedt has posted on X about how the bug sympathizers are spreading fake news and bug propaganda. He was very clear about this: Bugs can’t fly. He even used the #Lies to reinforce this information; some members of the community are not very sure about this.
I’ve heard rumors of flying bugs in @helldivers2. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims.
Everyone knows that “Bugs can’t fly”.
And I’m not alone in thinking this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from bug sympathizers that want to brainwash…

Other users replied with pictures of the cover of the game showing that bugs were flying in the background. Unfortunately, there are bugs flying in the background of the official cover of Helldivers 2, so who is spreading misinformation?
The discussion continued on X, and Pilestedt replied to the flying bugs on the cover, saying that it is image manipulation by traitors. Marketing could not see this coming, and some players have their doubts about whom to believe, the rumors, or Pilestedt. In the meantime, the Helldivers 2 community will keep fighting the good fight and spreading democracy all over the galaxy. There are still many planets to cover.
Arrowhead Game Studios has just released a trailer for the new premium Warbond. This content, called Warbond: Cutting Edge, will be available at the end of this week in the game. This new premium content will have several new weapons and armors for players to test.
