Helldivers 2 Has a Fundamental Problem That Sucks Away 99% of the Fun During Missions
Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 actively promotes teamwork. The whole concept of the game revolves around fighting alongside fellow Helldivers in order to take down Automaton and Terminid forces. However, this concept isn’t for everyone as many players prefer a solo gaming experience. The community has started complaining about people who are not helping their squad members.
A large section of gamers around the world don’t give Helldivers 2 a shot just because of this reason. The game really forces the teamwork factor and as a beginner, it is very difficult to play the game alone. Having teammates certainly helps, however, Arrowhead must incorporate the solo experience in the game.
Some Helldivers 2 Players Prefer To Play Alone
As a Helldiver, players follow Super Earth’s orders and fight alongside fellow Helldivers to stop the enemy invasion. The game heavily relies on teamwork as getting through missions alone can get quite challenging. A player on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit shared their experience of playing with a random squad, quickly learning that some players in the community don’t like playing in a team.
Players can only take limited Stratagems on a mission and having a full squad with diverse loadouts can boost the performance on the battlefield, but some gamers prefer the solo diving experience. On many occasions, the Helldivers 2 community has bashed players who go on solo adventures.
In some scenarios, the community can’t blame them as working with beginners can get quite frustrating. The best way to solo through missions is to make sure you’re not wasting reinforcements as your team will suffer because you’re not skilled enough.
Helldivers 2 Should Have A Solo Mode
To cater to all types of players, Helldivers 2 should have separate squad and solo modes. Although solo diving defeats the whole purpose of the game, Arrowhead needs to consider this idea as a lot of gamers around the world haven’t tried Helldivers 2 because they prefer to solo through missions. Plus, this could also solve the toxicity problem to some extent.
Helldivers 2 is finally making a comeback after losing a major chunk of its fanbase. Enforcing the PSN account linking policy on PC players was the tipping point as the game’s Steam page was flooded with negative reviews. The remaining fanbase left the game because Arrowhead failed to make the game exciting with updates.
The poor reception of the Escalation of Freedom update was enough to convince Arrowhead that it was following a terrible strategy. The studio came up with a strong plan to revive the game by buffing various fan-favorite Stratagems and weapons. Finally, the game once again achieved a high active player count but the game needs some fresh content to stay relevant.
