Helldivers 2 Needs to Give Us the ā€˜Hot Dogā€™ Stratagem That Is Our Very Own Personal Fire-Breathing Dragon

In theĀ endless war forĀ Super Earthā€™s democracy, every Helldivers 2 player knows that a trusty companion can mean the difference between glorious victory and inglorious death. From the assault rifle-toting standard ā€œGuard Dogā€ to the caustic gas-spewing ā€œDog Breath,ā€ our mechanical friendsĀ have saved countless lives across the galaxy.

But thereā€™s certainly room for one more furious friend in our arsenal.

Enter a suggestion from the community so perfectly aligned with Super Earthā€™s ā€œwhatever worksā€ approach to military innovation that itā€™s left Helldivers everywhere wondering why Arrowhead hasnā€™t already added it to our democracy-spreading toolkit.

After all, whatā€™s better than a flying companion that watches your back? One that sets it on fire, obviously!

A Hot New Idea for Helldivers 2

While Helldivers 2ā€˜s current lineup of Guard Dog companions excels at their respective rolesā€”the AX/AR-23 providing reliable suppressing fire, the AX/LAS-5 Rover delivering precise laser cuts, and the AX/TX-13 Dog Breath choking out enemies with caustic gasā€”thereā€™s a distinct lack of direct ā€œfire supportā€ in our robotic arsenal.

And one creative Helldiver had the perfect solution:

Alright devs, hear me out

The ingenuity on display here is nothing short of magnificent. Taking inspiration from real-world drone modifications (though hopefully with slightly more safety considerations), this suggestion perfectly captures the essence of Super Earthā€™s approach to technological advancement: if it works, it works. If it sets things on fire in the process? Even better.

The communityā€™s response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, particularly given how effective a flame-throwing companion could be against the dense bug swarms that plague our higher-difficulty missions:

Of course, as with any new addition to our arsenal, some Helldivers are already anticipating the ā€œfriendly fire opportunitiesā€ā€”because whatā€™s a new stratagem without the possibility of ā€œaccidentallyā€ immolating your teammates?

And while our current Guard Dog variants already require careful positioning to avoid friendly fire incidents, thereā€™s something uniquely appealing about adding actual fire to the equation. After all, nothing says ā€œspreading managed democracyā€ quite like a swarm of flame-spewing robotic companions.

From Guard Dog to Hot Dog: A Natural Evolution

The proposed ā€œHot Dogā€ stratagem wouldnā€™t just be another variantā€”it would be a game-changer for how we approach certain mission types. While the AX/LAS-5 Rover excels at taking care of smaller enemies and the AX/TX-13 Dog Breath creates effective area denial, a flame-throwing companion would offer unprecedented crowd control capabilities.

Just imagine the beautiful chaos of a full squad extraction:

The communityā€™s enthusiasm has even sparked ideas for an entire themed content drop, because why stop at just one spicy addition to our arsenal?

And letā€™s be clear about one thing: if Arrowhead does add this stratagem (which they absolutely should), it needs to be called the ā€œHot Dog.ā€ Itā€™s non-negotiable. The name perfectly encapsulates both Super Earthā€™s love for military hardware nicknames and the communityā€™s appreciation for slightly ridiculous yet entirely practical solutions to our bug problem.

Plus, think of all the ā€œaccidentalā€ friendly fire incidents you could blame on our robotic companion instead of your own questionable aim!

What do you think about this spicy suggestion? Would you trust your squadmates with a flying flamethrower, or are regular friendly fire incidents already keeping you busy enough? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
