Helldivers 2 Takes Its First Steps Towards Customization With the New Viper Commandos Warbond
Seasonal updates in Helldivers 2 can often be a fun experience or a complete disaster, depending on the quality of the Warbond. These resemble premium passes that players can expect in any live service game and give players incentives to earn as they progress.
The latest Warbond, Viper Commandos, introduces cosmetics and weapons that suit the theme of a jungle/swamp region where sneaky encounters are a must, but raining down bullets is also a viable option. After all, this is Helldivers 2, which we’re talking about.
Even though Helldivers 2 players have had the luxury of multiple interesting Warbonds since its release, the newest one seems to be the most promising one yet. There’s a careful mix of gameplay updates and customization options with this one, and there are few weapons that are part of the Viper Commandos Warbond that will be worth the investment.
A big change is happening with how vehicle customization works. Players can now modify how their Hellpods look, along with masking the Exosuit and Pelican-1 ships to adorn colors that suit a player’s fighting style and everything they stand for.
Additionallly, the Viper Commandos Warbond adds our first step in customization with vehicle patterns. Customize your Hellpod, Exosuits, and Pelican-1 via Ship Management.

Between the capes and armors to choose from, shades from a woodland color palette and camouflage stripes are part of the overall aesthetic. Helldivers 2’s Viper Commandos Warbond is rightfully making a statement about keeping things fresh and appealing to players from all walks of life.
Firstly, the Warbond re-introduces the Liberator assault rifle as the AR-23A Liberator Carbine. This new and improved version of the infamous gun now has better handling and a good fire rate despite the heavier recoil.
Players will be surprised to know that a triple-barrel sawed-off shotgun, SG-22 Bushwhacker, is now part of the secondary slot rather than being a primary weapon.
Additionally, throwing knives can now be part of a Helldiver’s arsenal. PlayStation Blog accurately describes how the knife can be put to use when going against a horde of enemies:
Imagine mowing down a crowd of Terminids and running out of ammo with only one bug remaining, no time to reload, so you dive backward and throw a hunting knife into its carapace right before it descends on you.
We’re yet to see how players are going to use all of this to their advantage, and likely build a unique playstyle that’s reflective of both stealthy and aggressive ways of enjoying the game.
