Helldivers 2 Uses the Oldest Trick in the Book to Continue its Recent Revival: Free Armor for All
As part of Helldivers 2‘s Liberty Day celebrations, Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that it is giving away a free weapon and armor set. When Helldivers 2 was released in February, it went on to become one of the most popular games in the world. The unique PvE experience made the game exciting but very soon, Arrowhead decided to nerf weapons to balance things out. On top of this, Arrowhead and Sony also tried to impose the PSN account linking policy on PC players, killing the game’s popularity.
In August, the game got its first major update, Escalation of Freedom, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. Players were convinced the Helldivers 2 was sinking ship. However, Arrowhead has managed to turn things around lately. Clearly, this free armor set and weapon is also an attempt to keep the players hooked.
Arrowhead Game Studios Is Giving Away Free Armor And Weapon To All Helldivers 2 Players
The official X account of Helldivers 2 has revealed that all Helldivers 2 players will get the R-2124 Constitution and DP-00 Tactical Armor for free to celebrate Liberty Day, which falls on 26th October. The R-2124 Constitution is a shotgun with a knife on its end, something that players have been asking for a long time now.
In case you can’t log in on Liberty Day, don’t worry as you will still receive the gifts. Arrowhead community manager, Katherine Baskin, announced on the game’s Discord server that “everyone will get the items.” There were rumors that Arrowhead would add the R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper, which was just a variation of the R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper with a knife, however, the R-2124 Constitution isn’t too bad either.
Arrowhead Game Studios Managed To Revive Helldivers 2‘s Hype
Helldivers 2 hit a rough patch after a successful launch, mainly because players were expecting new content but all they got were unnecessary nerfs that ruined the game. Exactly when Helldivers 2 started becoming boring and dull, Sony decided to roll out the PSN account linking policy.
The community had a strong reaction to the policy, forcing Sony to revoke it, however, the damage was done. The game’s Steam page was bombarded with negative reviews. The Escalation of Freedom update was the final nail in the coffin, forcing Arrowhead to come up with a new plan.
With recent updates, Arrowhead has managed to turn things around as they have reworked many gameplay elements and also buffed various fan-favorite Stratagems like Flamethrower and Railgun. For now, it’s safe to say that the studio is heading down the right path but the game still needs some new content, a new enemy faction in particular.
