Here’s What Could Be Coming With This Long-Awaited Collaboration

Arrowhead Game Studios recently released a “Bring the Boom” trailer for the upcoming Helldivers 2 launch on Xbox, and there were teases of Halo 3: ODST in the trailer. Does this mean that the next collab event of Helldivers 2 will be with the Halo franchise? We might just be getting ODST-Style Hellpods, the famous Energy Sword, and a major event.

Helldivers 2 is finally making it to Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025, and it seems like Arrowhead Studios could be making the occasion even more monumental. While neither Arrowhead nor Xbox Game Studios has officially confirmed a crossover, the clues are there, and we can’t help but speculate on what’s coming. Here are our three ideas for what could be coming.

ODST-Style Hellpods Could be Coming to Helldivers 2

One of the most noticeable details in the teaser is the drop pod design. Fans on the Helldivers subreddit quickly noticed differences from the standard Super Earth Hellpods. The one in the trailer seems to have fewer thrusters, a more bullet-shaped body, and even subtle “ears” that really remind us of ODST pods from Halo.

This could just be a similarity in looks, but there’s definitely a chance that Arrowhead might offer custom ODST-themed Hellpods, possibly as a premium cosmetic or as part of a Warbond. Imagine if we get a mixed design that mixes Helldivers’ top-exit style with ODST’s side-door deployment.

Is It Finally Time for the Halo Energy Sword?

If the ODST armor is on the table, weapons from the Halo universe might not be far behind. If you think Halo, you think one thing and one thing only. The Energy Sword. In fact, it wouldn’t even be that far-fetched for Helldivers 2. We’ve already seen similar weapons in the hands of the Illuminate before.

This crossover could introduce a themed Warbond featuring ODST armor sets, weapon skins, and possibly other iconic pieces of equipment from the Halo franchise. Like a SOCOM-style suppressed pistol or even active camouflage gear. Helldivers 2 usually doesn’t do it, but we’d also like to see some full-on Covenant-inspired enemies. But that’s a stretch.

We Could Be Getting a Major Light of Liberty Event

There’s also a very intriguing new leak that could hint at something else. According to a quickly deleted PlayStation France post, there was a mention of an update called “Light of Liberty,” slated for August 26, the same day as the Xbox launch. While we don’t know any other details, it could be similar to the Heart of Democracy update we got in May.

If it’s tied to this possible Halo crossover, the Light of Liberty update could bring major new content, themed cosmetics, and possibly a new campaign arc. We could see city-based missions inspired by New Mombasa, with objectives based on Halo 3: ODST’s lore. The possibilities are endless, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Helldivers 2’s upcoming Xbox release was already set to be a big moment for the game, but pairing it with a crossover from one of Microsoft’s most beloved franchises will turn it into an iconic moment in the gaming industry.
