Hidetaka Miyazaki is in Trouble With Some Elden Ring DLC Players for Snubbing 1 Base Game Character
There are a lot of elements in Elden Ring that fail to make an appearance in the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and while most of them are forgivable, players might just riot over the absence of this one demigod in the Realm of Shadow.
While the game might have brought back one of the mightiest beings in the lore, Starscourge Radahn, it disappointingly fails to bring back his nemesis and Miquella’s empyrean twin sister, Malenia.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Missing out on This One Demigod Is Now Being Deemed Criminal
Afflicted with the curse of Scarlet Rot, Malenia played a huge role in the game’s storyline despite being an optional boss. She was also dubbed the hardest boss in Elden Ring before the release of the recent DLC, which makes it even more saddening to see how the studio failed to include her once again despite being presented with the perfect opportunity.
Replying to one of the posts in the game’s official Reddit forum, a user stated how it is disappointing that FromSoftware failed to deliver a proper questline for the Goddess of Scarlet Rot, stating that what was given in the main game was not enough to learn more about her character.

Replying to the above, another user further replied how it is ‘near criminal’ for the studio to hardly mention Malenia in the huge Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and the huge amount of lore it brings.

There is ultimately nothing that can be done at this point, as the DLC has been out for more than a month now. While there remains a possibility we might get to learn more about her in any future installments, fans will have to do with Millicent’s questline for now.
Young Lion’s Helm – The Only Mention of Malenia in the Elden Ring DLC
As stated before, the Empyrean twin sister is not mentioned much in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s latest release except in an item description accessible only after defeating the final boss in the Realm of Shadow.
After getting rid of Promised Consort Radahn, who came back to life using Mohg’s body, the player can obtain the Young Lion’s armor set, the item description of which reveals how Malenia waged a war against the demigod just so he can face death and join Miquella in the afterlife.
This is ultimately one of the biggest revelations done in the expansion as it answers the question of why the Goddess of Scarlet rot marched towards Caelid in the first place, fighting a battle never witnessed before.
