Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Admission is Very Telling on What We Can Expect in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring‘s upcoming DLC Shadow of the Erdtree could not be coming any soon. The DLC is said to be revealing a ton of new lore related to pivotal characters from the game, as well as give us the ability to explore a whole new area—the Land of the Shadow.
In a recent interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed a ton more crucial details about the highly anticipated DLC. If you weren’t already excited about Shadow of the Erdtree, this interview will change your mind.
The Elden Ring DLC Will Follow Miquella’s Footsteps
IGN sat down with Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview to ask for intricate details about the upcoming, highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC.
When asked about Miquella and the role he plays in the DLC, as well as the trailer featuring Mohg’s boss arena and the hand hanging out of the cocoon, Miyazaki had this to say:
The cocoon and arm you saw at the beginning of the trailer – this is actually the point of entry to the Land of Shadow where the players will enter to the DLC area. And this does have some relation to Miquella. And Miquella has, as we said, traveled to the Land of Shadow. He does have some motive and some objective there, which we don’t want to give away too much.
He continued,
Essentially the player will be following in those footsteps in the same way that they followed the blessings from the Grace, the Sites of Grace in the Lands Between. They’ll be following in Miquella’s footsteps, and these will guide them through the Land of Shadow and reveal that motivation to them.
And, naturally, it’s not just the player who’s intrigued by Miquella. Various characters and NPCs within the world have been keeping a close eye on him too. As players journey through the Land of Shadow, they’ll come across these individuals, forming new alliances and facing new adversaries along the way—or so we hope.
Players from the Elden Ring community had previously guessed that the DLC would follow Miquella’s story, after it was found out that Irish voice actress and comedian, Naomi McDonald, would voice him. Now that there’s official confirmation, it’s time to unleash the Miquella-centered theories that have been on the backburner.
The Wait is Not Long for Shadow of the Erdtree
Excitement is building as fans eagerly await the upcoming DLC content for Elden Ring, and the good news is the release date is just around the corner—June 21st, 2024. Players finally have a date to mark in their calendars.
In the meantime, there’s no shortage of ways to keep occupied. Some players have delved into expansive mods that change base game mechanics and reshape the entire gaming experience.
Others opt for mods introducing numerous quality-of-life improvements, enhancing the Elden Ring gameplay. So, until June 21st rolls around, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy in the game’s universe.
