Hitman Ends Collab With Conor McGregor While Nikita Hand Civil Case Threatens His $200 Million Empire

If you’re unaware, MMA fighter Conor McGregor joined the world of Hitman: World of Assassination as a brand-new Elusive Target back in June. It was arguably one of the most hyped crossovers in the gaming industry.

Hitman’s developer IO Interactive has announced that it’s going to stop selling DLC featuring Conor McGregor after a civil court found him guilty of sexual assault.

McGregor appeared in Hitman: World of Assassination as part of the Elusive Target mission, The Disrupter, which features his voice work and likeness. The DLC made a return to the title earlier this month as a part of the Free Starter Pack for new gamers and Elusive Target for old players.

On Friday, an Irish High Court jury discovered that McGregor had assaulted and raped Nikita Hand back in 2018. The MMA fighter has been instructed by authorities to pay damages of €248,000 (approx $260,500). Due to the fact that it’s a civil case and not a criminal one, the MMA figure won’t be criminally liable and will face any convictions.

The Director of Public Prosecutions didn’t pursue a criminal case in 2020 as the chances of getting a conviction were low. McGregor initially wanted to challenge the verdict on but has now deleted the X post.

Even though the DLC isn’t being sold anymore, gamers who’ve purchased it should be able to access all the content. It’s unknown if IO will offer refunds for outright deleting the content from people’s accounts or if it plans to re-release it after the situation changes.

Hitman: World of Assassination was all set to release for PS VR2 in December 2024. However, this release has been pushed back all the way to March 27th, 2025. While this delay might string, the news it brings along make is quite incredible, as we’re supposed to get new features and tweaks for the gameplay.

According to a blog post, IO Interactive is currently focused on polishing the game. The developer needs extra time to refine the game and bring additional features such as an active reloading system, which has been demanded since day one of release.

The best part is that with this game’s release on PS VR2, players will be able to experience the entire World of Assassination campaign. This means all the 20 dropping locations, from the sunny streets of Miami to the skyscrapers of Dubai. It would truly be a mind-boggling release once it happens.

With that said, do you think IO Interactive has made the right move by removing McGregor from World of Assassination? Let us know in the comments below.
