No specific cause of death for the reality TV star was supplied by the department, which referred all inquiries to the Palm Springs Police Department. Having answered the initial call after the reported stabbing 10 days earlier, the Palm Springs Police Department could not be reached for direct comment.

Xol’s time of injury on Sept. 10 was put at 5:41 a.m. by the Sheriff’s Department. According to the Desert Sun newspaper, Palm Springs police charged Richard Joseph Gonzales, 34, with attempted murder after he reported the stabbing.

“We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol,” his family said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “We know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others.”

Before becoming a TV designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Xol studied theater at UCLA and was a keyboardist and percussionist. He also produced musical theater and comedy revues that toured the U.S.

Born in Los Angeles to Mexican-American parents, he also acted in TV music and video projects in Latin America.
