How to Beat Tama Trio

Has the question of how to beat Tama Trio in Astro Bot been keeping you awake at night? We’ve got you covered, and we’ll do you one better. We’ll even tell you how to navigate the jungle-themed level and take out this stacked boss.

Trunk of Funk has some very interesting design choices, as most of the level occurs inside and around a massive tree. Astro will also get to use a new gadget that should help with platforming, and we’ll be going over that in this Tama Trio guide.

Before you can engage with the three avian bosses, you’ll first need to get to their location. They are found at the top of a massive tree, but Astro Bot won’t spot this tree the moment he lands in the world. That’s because it’s his job to grow it!

As you climb the platforms ahead of you from the landing site, you’ll spot a plant that doesn’t look like it’s doing too well. It seems the little ant bots bringing it water aren’t enough to meet its requirements, and it’s on Astro to save the day. By clearing out the centipede-like enemy patrolling the water spout, Astro can pull the exposed cable and use the spout to water the plant.

Once the plant has fully bloomed into a full tree, Astro can then use the magnetic rail to climb into its mouth and continue his adventure. Once inside, Astro will gain access to another new backpack, as he has in all of his adventures thus far—the elephant backpack. Using this, Astro can vacuum slime found throughout the level and use it to create platforms mid-jump.

Get familiar with this mechanism, as you’ll be using it throughout the level and even in the upcoming boss flight. The rest of the level is fairly straightforward and will take you through various sections inside and outside of the tree.

During your adventure, you’ll come across spouts from which steam is emanating. Using your new gadget above these spouts will allow the steam to propel your newly created platform upwards toward new sections. The goal is to get to the top of the tree, where you will eventually face off against the bird trio, which requires a bit of timing and precision jumping.

Remember when we said to get familiar with using the elephant backpack? Well, you’re going to need all the skills you acquired throughout the level. The fight starts when the three eggs in the center of the arena partially hatch with the birds inside poking out just their beaks, wings, and eyes.

The three will then quickly stack on top of each other, making a totem pole that must be climbed, similar to Captain Pincher.

However, instead of using handholds to climb, Astro Bot will need to use the elephant backpack to get to the top of the stack. Three slime reservoirs are present in the arena that can be used to fill the backpack’s platform-creation reserves. The three eggs attack by spewing a pink-colored liquid and then rotating in different directions, almost like a spike trap.

Once you’ve got the timing down, create two platforms to get on top of the first egg. Now, use your thruster lasers to crack open the top of the first egg. After landing in the now exposed egg, use the elephant backpack to suck up the innards and destroy the egg from the battle.

Doing this will knock you off the stack, and you’ll have to repeat this process two more times to defeat the boss.

And that’s all there is to the Tama Trio guide! Which part of the level did you find most challenging? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check out our other Astro Bot boss guides to help you through the game!
