How to Beat Valiant Gargoyles

This is a quick guide on how to beat Valiant Gargoyles at the Siofra Aqueduct. This is another case of fighting two optional bosses within the same arena, but this pair is not as intimidating as they seem. The Tarnished has a few options for taking this dynamic duo down, and this guide has players covered.

Fortunately, this massive gargoyle pair is optional. Players can leave them alone and continue their journey to becoming the next Elden Lord. However, some players will feel unsatisfied knowing there are still a few optional enemies left standing that will not stand for long.

Where Can You Find the Valiant Gargoyles?

The location of the Valiant Gargoyles in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring players must defeat another boss to gain access to Nokron.

The Tarnished can find the Valiant Gargoyles at the Siofra Aqueduct by Nokron, Eternal City. The level design of FromSoftware is unparalleled since this area is inaccessible not until Elden Ring players defeat Starscourge Radahn which will grant the Tarnished a new region to explore.

Nokron, Eternal City, is a massive biome hidden underneath the massive map of Limgrave, and it is home to different bosses like the Mimic Tear and the Valiant Gargoyles. The Tarnished must head down the pit safely to reach the hidden city and head towards the arena of the Mimic Tear boss.

Tip

There are a few Sites of Grace around Nokron, Eternal City, and players should consider resting before facing the Valiant Gargoyles.

From there, players can head left and press on to a much larger area while riding on Torrent. The Tarnished will eventually reach an area with trees and a stone road, following the path with a few floating and glowing jellyfish to light the way and hop down to enter a secret area, the Siofra Aqueduct, where the Valiant Gargoyles are waiting.

How to Prepare to Fight the Valiant Gargoyles?

The Valiant Gargoyles in Elden Ring.
The Valiant Gargoyles can be challenging to fight simultaneously.

Elden Ring players should be familiar with the attack patterns of each gargoyle and know how to counter them. Fortunately, both variants have similar moves and can be easily dodged. Players should look out whenever the Gargoyle lifts its weapon and perform a slash attack that will emit a pillar of energy.

The Tarnished should have decent gear and be at a higher level to deliver more damage and have a stronger defense from incoming attacks. It can be stressful to fight two variants simultaneously, and it would only make sense to summon a Spirit Ash or a Mimic Tear to even the odds and give each boss something to hit.

There are a handful of attacks that the Gargoyles can do with their axe, and they are easy to evade for the most part. Players can fight aggressively with a strong melee build or play it safe by firing projectiles like arrows and casting different magic attacks from a safe distance are all key tips on how to defeat Valiant Gargoyles.

How to Cheese Valiant Gargoyles? Players can immediately use Rotten Breath from a safe distance and watch their health bars deteriorate. Armed with a shield for extra defense, this dynamic duo will fall in a few minutes.
Rewards 22500 Runes, Gargoyle’s Greatsword, and Gargoyle’s Twinblade
Worth the Trouble? Yes

The fight doesn’t start with the two variants attacking together. The Tarnished will have to deal with one variant without the Twinblade first, and the other will join the fight shortly after the health bar of the first Gargoyle is nearly depleted.

Players can use magic attacks from the Swift Glintstone Shard and hurt the first variant from a distance. Most melee attacks are slow and can be easily telegraphed for dodging. Elden Ring players should have mastered the principle of self-preservation by rolling away from danger.

After a few perfectly timed hits, both variants will fall immediately. However, there is another method that requires the Rotten Breath spell; although it is worth noting that the Valiant Gargoyles can’t be inflicted with Scarlet Rot, the spell can still do serious damage.

With an upgraded Mimic Tear in the field to distract these bosses, players will have plenty of time to fire shots from a distance. Defeating the Valiant Gargoyles will grant players 22,500 runes and their weapons, such as the Gargoyle’s Greatsword and Twinblade.
