How to Change Clothes in Star Wars Outlaws

While you can’t create a custom character, play as a male, or customize Kay Vess significantly, you can alter her appearance by unlocking outfits and clothing options. Once you start acquiring clothing pieces, you can then create the Kay Vess you’ve always wanted. Here is how to change clothes in Star Wars Outlaws!

How to Swap Clothing in Star Wars Outlaws

To access the game menu, not the main menu, navigate to Equipment and select Loadout from within this sub-menu. There, you’ll have access to the various clothing and cosmetic items available, and you can freely swap out different pieces to create a specific look for your version of Kay Vess. It doesn’t cost anything to change clothing.

Once you access the Loadout screen, you can change Kay Vess’ clothing, including:

Your Charms don’t physically change your appearance, but they provide small buffs that affect various gameplay elements. You start with Kay’s Lucky Chip, which you’ll see first in a cutscene on Canto with her mother. It provides “comfort,” though that doesn’t alter gameplay.

How to Transmog in Star Wars Outlaws

Alternatively, you can transmog in Star Wars Outlaws, keeping the same clothing options and stats of one item while taking on the appearance of an entirely different item. It’s an excellent way to customize your Kay Vess further.

To transmog, access the Loadout menu, but instead of selecting a new outfit, hit “Change Appearance” when hovering over one of the three clothing slots. If there are transmogs available, you will have a chance to change that clothing item’s appearance without removing any of its stats or status effects. Some items do offer gameplay buffs!

How to Unlock New Outfits

As you progress through the game, you will inevitably unlock various clothing items. The first piece comes shortly after leaving Canto aboard the Trailblazer. As you land on Toshara, Kay discovers her first unique piece of clothing.

You’ll encounter numerous other clothing pieces similarly, including through story beats and exploration. But for the most part, cosmetic outfits stem from pre-order bonuses and the in-game store, where you can buy cosmetics for real-world money, not in-game credits.

We suspect that, similar to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Skull and Bones, Star Wars Outlaws will offer a rather large assortment of cosmetic skins!
