Everyone talks about how communication is key in missions, but not all of it has to be completely serious! Emotes are a fun and casual way of communicating with your teammates without having to say anything.

Emoting itself is super simple in the game. Keyboard and mouse players have to press the ‘B’ button to trigger the emote they’ve selected.

Controller users will have to hold ‘Left’ on the D-pad to bring out the emote. Keep in mind, though, that just pressing it will swap your weapon—you want to hold it down instead.

Some emotes require a teammate to be performed. When you attempt the emote, you’ll character will ‘wait’ until a teammate approaches you and presses the correct button prompt.

Before you start throwing out emotes, you’ll want to equip them. Unfortunately, at the time of this guide, you can only equip one emote at a time. You can’t switch them during a mission either, so choose wisely.

Before you deploy, go to the armor and select the ‘Character’ tab. Head to the ‘Emote’ option (located between Voice Pack and Victory Pose) and you’ll be able to browse through all of the emotes you’ve unlocked.

By default, you start with ‘Casual Salute.’ Once you’ve selected an emote, it’ll be ready to use during any mission or while hanging out on your ship.

How to Unlock Every Helldivers 2 Emote

If you just started playing, you might notice that you’re missing out on a lot of emotes. You’ll acquire more as you naturally rank up and earn Medals from completing missions, operations, and Personal Orders.

Once you’ve acquired enough medals for an emote you really want, head over to the Acquisition Center and check out the Warbond Progression menu. Here, you’ll be able to buy new emotes and some other cool customization items.
