How to Get the Best Ending

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster gives players seven possible endings to its storyline. Out of all these, Ending S is the best one that gives players much-needed closure (compared to other endings) and concludes Frank’s adventures on a bittersweet note.

To get this ending, you need to complete a couple of steps that require the main game’s progression, along with Overtime Mode which unlocks right after you’re done with the game’s campaign.

Note: Major spoilers about the story and ending.

Unlocking Overtime Mode (Ending A)

Complete all the available Cases before the timer runs out.

In order to get the best ending for Dead Rising, you need to first unlock the Overtime Mode. This happens once you’ve completed the default 72-hour Mode. However, you have to complete all the Cases in the game before you reach the end.

Once this is done, you need to speak to Isabela at 10 AM on 22 September. After this, reach the helipad two hours later (12 PM) for the rescue chopper to arrive. This will lead to Ending A.

Once you achieve Ending A, the game takes you to Overtime Mode. Finally, you’ll have the chance to go for Ending S.

Getting the True Ending (Ending S)

Getting to Ending S requires you to first unlock Overtime Mode.

Ending S is also known as the “true ending” due to the extra story bits you find upon its completion. Unlocking the Overtime Mode opens the possibility for you to work towards getting Ending S.

You don’t have to complete any side tasks for this. Once you’re done with Ending A, the game will automatically take you to the next step. Now, simply play through the story until you get Ending S.

However, we suggest checking out all the endings for the game before you decide which one is the best for you. Again, this contains a lot of spoilers so be careful!

Why Is This Considered the Best Ending?

Compared to other endings, this one gives you a bit more closure.

Unlike the other endings, Ending S gives you a bit more closure about the consequences and conclusions of everything that happened in Dead Rising. In the end, you’ll be fighting Brock Mason, whose body will fall into a horde of zombies.

After that, there’s a cutscene with Frank and Isabela surrounded by zombies. Frank then screams into the sky, and the credits start rolling. However, there’s an epilogue message that gives players the much-needed context to how things end.

At the end of Ending S, a message reveals that Frank successfully escaped Willamette and told the world about the truth. The government too admits its partial involvement in everything that went wrong, even though things soon fade from people’s minds. Finally, there are also a few lines of text that speak about Carlito’s Orphans’ authenticity, which is yet to be proven.
