How To Get the Moonveil Katana

FromSoftware loves adding all kinds of spectacular weapons to their games, and Elden Ring is no exception. This open-world title has some of the best weapons the studio has ever created in its entire catalog.

Swords, among the many types of weapons and equipment, are visually impressive and boast some of the best stats in the entire game.

One of the fan favorites is the Moonveil Katana, which has outstanding reach and emits beams of light after every Ash of War slash. This is a guide on how to obtain the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring.

Where to Find the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring

The Gael tunnel is where you can find the path to the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring.

First, to reach the dungeon where this sought-after katana is located, you need to head to the Caelid region and try to find the Gael Tunnel.

This cave-like entrance that leads to the desired dungeon is quite tricky to find because it’s hidden among the rocks in a very particular and subtle way, making it harder to spot. The cave is located beneath a cliff, and you’ll need to climb up a bit to find the right opening and spot the entrance from above.

Once inside this cave, you’ll need to go down carefully without falling or dying at the hands of the guards until you find a Lost Grace, which you can activate for fast travel later.

Once you enter the dungeon and defeat the first few guards, you will find this particular Lost Grace in the lower part of the dungeon. After reaching this lower part, you’ll need to follow a specific path to find the dragon you must face in order to get the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring.

You can choose to explore the area, but you can also go straight to the action and defeat the boss at the end of the tunnel to get the desired weapon. You can then use this weapon and find out how to defeat Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring if you’re having trouble.

Once you reach the lower area, proceed straight ahead. At a certain point, you’ll encounter a divergence in the path, featuring two paths: one leading to a ladder on the left and another leading to the right.

You must decide the left path, descend the ladder, and manage to avoid all the enemies in the area. As you proceed along the left path, you will eventually encounter a second ladder to descend, under the protection of a soldier.

After descending the ladder and continuing along the left path, you’ll soon find the entrance to the final boss. If you go a little further in that direction, you’ll also find another Lost Grace to discover and use for fast travel.

After backtracking to the boss area, you’ll finally face the Magma Wyrm. This particular boss is not very difficult to defeat, but it still requires a relatively high level to overcome.

This boss doesn’t seem as intimidating compared to other stronger bosses in the game, but it can still deal a significant amount of damage. One of the most notable traits of this dragon in Elden Ring is that it moves quite slowly.

However, when it does move, it performs a charging attack while simultaneously spewing magma, which is deadly.

To deal damage before it charges, you’ll need to close the distance with the dragon and start attacking it relentlessly to reduce its health as much as possible before it launches its attack.

Aside from spewing magma, it will also try to hit you with its hand, but this is fairly obvious because it moves its head a lot before doing so.

Avoiding the magma and evading the boss’s charge allows you to move closer and continue attacking it until its health completely depletes.

Once you defeat it, the reward will be the long-awaited Moonveil Katana, along with a dragon heart to make it even more impressive.
